Super Wings flies to new broadcasters

Korea-based media and content company CJ E&M has announced new sales for its animated preschool series Super Wings to broadcasters in North and South America.

Stateside, the preschool toon has been picked up by Sprout, which will debut the series on March 14.

Discovery Kids has also picked up the series for Latin America, with a premiere slated for Q2.

These latest TV deals join a growing list of broadcasters for the show, including Canal Plus’s Piwi+ (France), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland) and EBS (South Korea).

Super Wings (52 x11 minutes) follows jet plane Jett, who travels around the world delivering packages to children. The show’s curriculum focuses on issues of creative problem-solving and cultural diversity, with the characters visiting 52 cities in 45 countries over the course of the series.

Alpha Animation and Culture is the master toy partner for the show, and newly launched Auldey Toys of North America (a subsidiary of Alpha Animation and Culture) will launch the initial US toy program with Toys ‘R’ Us this October, before a national retail rollout next spring.

The show is co-produced by Korea’s FunnyFlux, China’s QianQi, Little Airplane Productions in the US and Korea’s EBS.

CJ E&M holds global distribution rights excluding Asia and the Middle East, which are managed by China-based kids entertainment group Alpha. CJ E&M will hold special screening sessions for Super Wings at Kidscreen Summit 2015 in Miami this week.
